Open Wednesday through Sunday evenings and during the afternoon on the weekends, you can test your breakout skills with your friends. Those who want to indulge and spoil themselves while in Tulsa will want to book a day at the renowned Ihloff Salon & Day Spa. There is no better place to head for shopping than the shopping city within Tulsa, Utica Square. Utica Square is actually in Midtown Tulsa but I love the place and it’s close so it gets mentioned on here. Some people window shop, and some people lay down some serious money on the top designer brands and amazing home décor pieces housed within the square.
Here you will find specialty shops, upscale boutiques, and famous department stores that make it easy to find every designer brand and posh new trends. As a bonus, you can break up your shopping extravaganza by popping into one of the fine bistro’s in the square like Queenie’s or by indulging in French food over at the Stonehorse Café.
While in the premier shopping district of Brookside, make sure to take some time out to visit the Ida Red General Store boutique shop. It is hard to place a label on the type of goods you will find inside, but it is well worth the trip. You can find everything from vinyl to T-shirts to jewelry to Oklahoma products and souvenirs.
Of course, you can’t head out to shop in South Tulsa without planning at least one trip to Woodland Hills Shopping Mall, the largest shopping mall in the Tulsa area. It has almost every designer mall store that you could think of along with all of the other brands that malls are famous for. It also has a carousel and children’s play area to keep the younger shoppers happy while you window shop.
Dining in South Tulsa
If you want to see and be seen, then you have to take a minute out of your trip to head into the Brookside District. Not only will you find one-of-a-kind boutiques all within walking distance, but you will find over 35 night spots and restaurants that offer just about every type of dining experience.
This trendy pocket in South Tulsa is great for a gourmet brunch or a quick spot of pub food while you shoot some pool. As a bonus, the artsy area is also decorated with the work of local artists so you can feel trendy and on spot while strolling the streets.
If you are looking for a great happy hour or a date night spot, consider trying out McNellie’s South City off of S. Zurich Ave. It is modeled after an old-fashioned English pub and offers some great drafts and Hush Puppies and Fried Pickle Chips that will leave you happy.
For something more upscale and indulgent, try out the Oliveto Italian Bistro, a great spot for Italian food and homemade entrees. They specialize in wood over pizzas and if you arrive during happy hour (3pm to 6pm weekdays), you can get many wines under $25 a bottle.
Another great spot for date night or early happy hour specials in a more upscale spot is Napa Flats on 9912 Riverside Parkway. Here you can find a blend of Mediterranean and Italian flavors served up in cozy booths with a large patio perfect for warm spring and summer nights. While there make sure to try out the Palo Alto Dip and the tantalizing Calamari.

The Tulsa River Parks system is a dream for visitors and residents of South Tulsa that want to explore the natural beauty of the rolling mountains of Tulsa. The trail system runs along both sides of the Arkansas River and features over 26 miles of asphalt trails that are perfect for bicyclists, joggers, and walkers.
At various locations up and down the riverbank and trail are restrooms, playgrounds, and parking lots near trailheads. Additionally, many people head towards the damn and riverbank to fish for catfish and striped bass.
